After a woman was recently discovered in Pune with the Zika virus, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Wednesday urged people not to panic and said the state is taking steps to ensure they get through Mosquito-borne disease does not spread.

Rajesh Tope said the multidisciplinary team deployed by the Union’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) had visited the Pune district to investigate the situation after Zika virus case was in a village under Purandar Taluka. found.

“Mosquito breeding areas will be destroyed and patient symptoms will also be monitored. Steps will be taken to ensure the disease does not spread,” said Rajesh Tope.

According to the PTI news agency, the three-person central team consists of a public health expert from the Pune Regional Director’s office; a gynecologist from Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi; and an entomologist from the National Institute of Malaria Research (NIMR), ICMR, New Delhi.

A medical team from the Maharashtra government also visited the village on Saturday. The team met the members of Sarpanch and Gram Panchayat and informed them of the necessary preventive measures against the Zika virus.

After infection with the Zika virus, which is spread through the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, most patients do not experience any symptoms. However, typical symptoms are fever, body aches and conjunctivitis.

State surveillance officer Dr. Last week, Pradip Awate urged everyone not to panic.

“Zika is a moderate illness because 80 percent of patients have no symptoms and the remaining 20 percent have moderate flu-like symptoms. You can recover by drinking enough water, resting, and taking a simple paracetamol tablet,” he said.
