The photo, along with the Prime Minister’s words in vaccination certificates, reinforced the message of creating awareness of Covid-appropriate behavior even after vaccination, the Rajya Sabha was told on Tuesday.
The formats of the Covid-19 vaccination certificates issued by CoWIN are standardized and correspond to the evolving guidelines of the WHO on verifiable vaccination certificates, said Minister of State of Health Bharati Pravin Pawar in a written response.
She replied to a question whether it was necessary and compulsory to print photos of the Prime Minister on the Covid vaccination card.
“Given the context of the pandemic, its evolving nature and the fact that following Covid-appropriate behavior has emerged as one of the most important measures to prevent the spread of disease.
“The photo along with the Prime Minister’s message in the vaccination certificates reinforces the message to create awareness in the greater public interest of the importance of following appropriate behavior towards Covid-19 after vaccination,” said Pawar.
It is the government’s moral and ethical responsibility to ensure that such critical messages are spread to people in the most effective way, she said.
“The format of the vaccination card, which complies with WHO standards for vaccination cards, including the communication and presentation of the importance of Covid-appropriate behavior after vaccination, was determined taking all these factors into account.
“All states and union territories use the CoWIN application for Covid-19 vaccination, and vaccination certificates are issued by CoWIN in a standard format,” the minister said.
