“We have been through a lot of things, pandemic, lockdown and a lot of people have suffered so I hope this medal is dedicated to all of them and also to my family members, aides and my coach and all of my sponsors because everyone has stalled in this pandemic” Sindhu told India Today in an exclusive interview.
“I hope this medal will change and everything will go back to normal. Everyone should be careful and everyone should take care of themselves because we have to get used to the new normal,” added Sindhu.
The reigning world champion Sindhu became only the second Indian and the first woman in the country to win two Olympic medals on Sunday. Place the play-off.
Sindhu, who has returned with medals from every major event like the Commonwealth and Asian Games and the BWF World Tour Finals for the past five years, outwitted the eight-seeded Bing Jiao 21-13, 21-15, adding: bronze to silver that she won at the 2016 Rio Games.
