With the withdrawal of Indian and Chinese armies from the Gogra Heights in eastern Ladakh, India is in no mood to let up its vigilance. The Indian Army has equipped its troops with modern weapons to patrol the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the region.

In an exclusive conversation with India Today, sources in the Indian Army said they were unwilling to trust the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) to pull out on Friday. The troops stationed along the LAC were supplied with highly developed equipment such as the Sig Sauer assault rifles, MP9 pistols and Carl Gustaf rocket launches.

Sig-Suer rifles, made in America, can fire 600 rounds in a minute. It can be used both automatically and semi-automatically.

The most fascinating fact about this rifle is that it never jams. It works in all types of climatic conditions, regardless of whether it is very cold, summer or rain. In addition, Indian soldiers at the front were equipped with rocket launchers and automatic greened launchers.

Prefabricated tents to keep soldiers warm

To counteract the cold winds and extremely cold temperatures, which sometimes prove to be a bigger enemy than the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, the Indian Army is building modern shelters for troops in the front areas that can accommodate more than one lakh soldiers.

The Aaj Tak / India Today team toured the prefabricated tents that are being built for the troops at the border. The tents were specially developed to accommodate soldiers, especially when the temperature is below zero.
