Since the Taliban quickly took over Afghanistan, several videos have surfaced on social media of Islamist extremist fighters attacking or arresting people who have been spotted with a national flag.
A new video was recently shared by local media on Twitter alleging that some Taliban insurgents arrested a man who was wearing the Afghan national flag under the windshield of his car.

In the videos, some people, allegedly Taliban fighters, can be seen tearing off the gherao car and the flag on the windshield. They later tied the man’s hands behind his back and arrested him.

Another video shared by the same Twitter name showed Taliban fighters beating an Afghan who wore the country’s national flag.

Protests against the Taliban rule took place in various cities in Afghanistan on Thursday. On the occasion of Afghanistan’s 102nd Independence Day on August 19, several demonstrators held a parade with the national flag.

Hundreds of Afghans demonstrated against the Taliban, while some Kabul locals reportedly replaced the Taliban flag with the Afghan national flag in famous Abdul Haq Square.

Amid protests, the Taliban violently broke up isolated protests for a second day on Thursday. Gunshots could be heard in Jalalabad as Afghans protested with the national flag. The shots were heard in Jalalabad as local residents protested the removal of the Afghan flags, which were replaced by those of the Taliban, according to local media.
