Leading congressional chairman and incumbent president of the Tripura Pradesh Congress, Pijush Kanti Biswas, announced his resignation from the party on Saturday.
On Twitter, Pijush Kanti Biswas said: “I thank all congressional leaders and supporters for their cooperation during my tenure as TPCC President (provisional) with sincere gratitude. Today I stepped down from the office of President and also retired from politics with sincere gratitude to Hon’ble CP Smt. Sonia Gandhiji. “

This comes shortly after the senior congress leader from Assam Sushmita Dev resigned from the Great Old Party.

Sushmita Dev, former President of All India Mahila Congress, had leave the Congress and join the Trinamool Congress last week.
In response to Pijush Kanti Biswas’s resignation, Sushmita Dev wrote, “Your tenure has been tough … good luck for the future.”

Although Biswas has publicly stated that he is retiring from politics, Sushmita Dev’s tweet sparked speculation as to whether or not Biswas would join the TMC in Tripura.
