Vajpayee’s photo missing from posters, Rajnath Singh says ‘can’t imagine Lucknow without Atalji’


Defense Minister and senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rajnath Singh, expressed his dismay on Tuesday that former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was not featured on posters in Lucknow when he was working on several development projects in Uttar Pradesh’s capital inaugurated.

Rajnath Singh said: “When I left the airport, I saw a lot of billboards, but Atalji’s photo was missing from every poster in Lucknow.”

“We all have photos of several people, but there isn’t a single picture of Atalji. There is also no picture of Atalji on the billboards on the stage. There has to be a picture of him. We cannot even imagine Lucknow without Atalji, ”said Rajnath Singh.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a Bharat Ratna awardee, represented Lucknow for five consecutive terms in the Lok Sabha between 1991 and 2009. Rajnath Singh is the current MP for Lok Sabha from Lucknow, who won the seat in 2014 and 2019.

On his last visit to Lucknow, Rajnath Singh pointed out the mistakes when he laid the foundation stone for development projects valued at Rs 1710 crore at an event at Jyotiba Phule Park in the Chowk district.

Rajnath Singh spoke about the missing photo of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the presence of the Prime Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath. He said that shouldn’t have happened.

The Defense Secretary said when he visited Lucknow for another groundbreaking program, he found the same missing pattern but “forgot” to mention it as he was very busy with the event.

Rajnath Singh said that the Lucknow parliamentary constituency is represented by Atal Bihari Vajpayee and that “his name and place are above all of us”.

“If you put people up for any function in Lucknow and if you want to hang up photos of party leaders, then you should definitely have photos of Atalji in particular. From now on there shouldn’t be a single hoard or poster in Lucknow that doesn’t show the photo of Atal ji, ”said Rajnath Singh to the party members.

He spoke at the inauguration and laying of the foundation stone of around 180 projects in connection with the development of Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also attended the event.

Among those present were Deputy Prime Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Dr. Dinesh Sharma, Minister of Urban Development Ashutosh Tandon, Minister of Justice Brijesh Pathak and Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia.
