Another landslide in Uttarakhand has blocked the national road between Tanakpur and Champawat. A video surfaced from the landslide site shows dozens of vehicles with passengers standing on the road as much of the hill crashes.
The Tanakpur-Champawat national road was closed on Monday after the landslide near Swala in Champawat in Uttarakhand, the ANI news agency reported.
The video shows stones, earth and tons of rubble rolling down the slope, uprooting trees on the way, while commuters watch in horror.
The cars and other vehicles then scramble on the freeway to make a U-turn to avoid the landslide, even if the road is clogged by the vehicles.

District Judge Vineet Tomar said, “It would take at least two days to clear the rubble. I have instructed the officers concerned to divert the traffic onto a different route. “
A few weeks ago, a major landslide in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur resulted in at least 28 deaths, many of whom were still missing after debris and boulders rolled down the slope to bury a bus full of passengers, several vehicles, and a truck commuting on the highway .
Rescue workers have so far managed to recover around 28 bodies, while many are still missing.
The HRTC bus was found on Thursday in a badly damaged condition.
A truck was also found that had rolled down a river bank due to falling rocks from a mountainside and the driver’s body was recovered. Two other cars were found in completely damaged condition, but no one was found in them.
