Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli hailed the performance of the Indian athletes competing in the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics on Sunday just minutes after the first Test of the series drew against England in Nottingham.
Team India performed at its best at the 32nd Tokyo Olympics with an unprecedented 7 medals including Neeraj Chopra’s spear gold.
Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu (silver), badminton star PV Sindhu (bronze), boxer Lovlina Borgohain (bronze), men’s hockey team (bronze), wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya (silver) and Bajrang Punia (bronze) won the rest of the medals for the nation.
“Congratulations to all of our winners and participants in the Olympics. Winning and losing is a sport, but what matters is that you did your best for the nation.
“We are so proud of you and I wish you all the best for the future. Jai Hind,” Kohli tweeted after the rain washed away the match at Trent Bridge on matchday one.

India began its campaign with Chanu’s silver on the first day and ended with Chopra’s historic litter on the penultimate day.
There were numerous premieres for India during their 17-day campaign.
Chanu became the first Indian to win a medal on the first day of the Olympics and the first weightlifter to bag silver for the nation. Neeraj took gold to win the first independent India’s athletics medal at the Olympics and ended the country’s 13-year wait for the grand prize after Abhinav Bindra shot gold at the 2008 Beijing Games.
The men’s hockey team also ended a long 41-year Olympic medal wait with their bronze-winning performance under Manpreet Singh, while PV Sindhu became the first Indian athlete to win consecutive medals at the Games and only the second after that Sushil Kumar succeeded A feat while Neeraj, Lovlina, Ravi and Bajrang won medals on their first appearance at the Olympics.
