The announcement comes a day later Delhi BJP President Adesh Gupta during a party protest, called on the Prime Minister to reopen the weekly markets and to compensate the traders associated with them.
Adesh Gupta had said that the BJP would agitate to reopen the weekly markets and further noted that even regular markets were opening, saying that as the situation normalized, “relief should be provided for these people too.” “.
Weekly markets in the state capital closed after a lockdown was imposed on April 19 after the city saw a surge in cases during the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
When the city began to unblock, the authorities had allowed a weekly market to reopen in each community zone while ensuring that they adhere to Covid-compliant behavior and follow official guidelines.

The livelihoods of those associated with weekly markets have been severely affected by the Covid-19 lockdown measures.

COVID-19 CASES IN DELHI
Meanwhile, Delhi reported 72 new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday, bringing the total number of active cases in the city to 565. In the national capital, one person also died of the infection in the past 24 hours.
