Uguev then took the lead 7-2 before Ravi Kumar defended himself with 2 more points, but could not make up the 3-point deficit in the end and lost the fight, but not without giving the Russians a tough fight.

Ravi reached the gold medal game after beating Kazakhstan’s Nurislam Sanayev in the semifinals. Ravi was trailing 9-2 in the game but managed to maintain his defense to stop the slide. He grabbed his rival with a double-leg attack that resulted in victory in a fall.
The 23-year-old had won his two previous fights with technical superiority on the way to the final. Ravi outclassed the Colombian Tigreros Urbano (13: 2) in his opening game and then outwitted the Bulgarian Georgi Valentinov Vangelov (14: 4).
