6 out of 18 JEE Main 2021 Rank 1 students hail from Kota classroom


The results of JEE Main 2021, eagerly awaited by over 7 lakh engineering aspirants, were released late Tuesday evening for the four JEE Main Sessions that year.

Of these 18 national JEE toppers, 6 are students from the Allen Career Institute in Kota – Anshul Verma, Siddhant Mukherjee, Mridul Goyal, Kavya Chopra, Pulkit Goyal and Gurmrit Singh scored 300 out of 300 points in various JEE Main 2021 sessions.

About 2.5 lakh students are declared in the results for JEE-Advanced. To be accepted into the 1.01.250 students of the general category, 25.000 general EWS, 67500 the OBC, 37500 the SC and 18750 the ST.

Aaj Tak got into conversation with these brilliant students who shared their preparation strategy and future plans.

“Kota makes dreams come true”: Siddhant Mukherjee

Siddhant Mukherjee had studied in Kota for two years after reaching 11th grade and dreaming of becoming an IIT-ian. He lived with his grandmother and his parents visited him from time to time.

Father Sandeep Mukherjee runs a risk management company and mother Nabanita Mukherjee is a bank clerk. The family is originally from Mumbai.

“Students from all over the country come here to get the best peer group to study,” he says.

“I focused intensely on NCERT to prepare for JEE Main. My main focus was on accuracy. The competition in Allen is good and the teaching method is perfect, ”says the JEE Main Topper.

Siddhant had gone home for five months in lockdown but continued online classes to prepare for the exam. He also won AIR 1 in the NSEJS Stage 1 exam.

“After graduating from BTech in Computer Science at IIT Mumbai, I want to contribute to Innovative India in CS,” he says.

The JEE Main Topper has also received a letter of offer from Cambridge University in England.

“In addition to studying, I also like karate, am a black belt, have a gold medal at the Queens Commonwealth Essay Competition,” says the young top performer.

‘Interested in the game of cricket and chess’: Anshul Verma

Anshul Verma from Raipur reached 99.95 percentiles in the JEE Main February and 99.93 percentiles in March and followed with 100 percentiles in the July meeting.

“I was not satisfied with both results. That is why I dared the third attempt in July, in the preparation of which I received a lot of support from the specialist faculty and study material from Kota, ”said the JEE leader.

“I focused more on the NCERT curriculum and the JEE Main special subjects,” he says. Anshul has also secured AIR 26 in KVPY SX.

Father Dr. Krishna Kumar Verma is a veterinarian and mother Damayanti Verma is the headmistress of the government.

“I study 10 hours a day and go to play cricket to relax or play chess with my father,” he says.

“My older sister Roopal Verma does BTech from NIT Raipur. She had also prepared from Kota, which inspired me to do the same. Kota is not up to coaching, ”he says.

“Currently the focus is on JEE Advanced. In the future I would like to do BTech from the CS branch of IIT Mumbai, ”says the JEE topper.

Anshul also spoke about his classmate in Kota, Zenith Malhotra, who scored 100 percentiles in his JEE Main March attempt.

“We used to live together and discuss our doubts with one another. I thought if he could get to 100 percentile then why couldn’t I? “He says.

“The strong peer group in Kota gives the students the opportunity to evaluate their own preparation. Everyone tries to be better than the other, so the preparation of the students is constantly improving, ”he says.

“I study with one goal in mind every day”: Mridul Aggarwal

Mridul Aggarwal, who was trying to make good use of the time, said he had studied at the Allen Institute for the past three years.

“I study with a daily goal and don’t sleep until I’ve finished this topic. In the morning I prepared the study for the day and did 6 to 8 hours of self-study every day, ”he says.

“I’ve benefited from the lockdown in the past few days. Sitting at home and studying online helped a lot, ”says the JEE topper.

Father Pradeep Agarwal is an account manager in a private company, while mother Pooja Agarwal is a housewife. The family is originally from Jaipur.

“My mother and teacher motivated me to study all year round. It’s good to watch movies to relieve stress, ”says Mridul.

“Now my goal is JEE-Advanced and I want to study computer science at IIT Mumbai,” he adds. In the future he also wants to found his own startup.

Pulkit has been a regular Kota class student for the past two years.

“This year I got 99.88 in the JEE Main on the first try, 99.92 on the second try, and the 99.99 percentile on the third try,” says the JEE Main Topper.

In addition, he had achieved 94.8 percent in class 12 and 98.6 percent in class 10.

“Everyone has a great study environment. The teaching methodology here is the best and the faculties are very supportive. If in doubt, the faculty will be happy to help, ”he says.

“Math has been my favorite subject right from the start and I enjoy solving the questions. My focus has always been on strengthening the fundamentals of the subject, ”he says.

Father Vijay Kumar Goyal is a businessman while mother Neelam Goyal is a housewife.

“I do 7 to 8 hours of self-study every day and now I concentrate fully on cracking JEE Advanced. I spend time with my family to relax. I want to do engineering in the CS industry from the IIT Mumbai, ”says the JEE topper.

‘Goal to study computer science from IIT Mumbai’: Kavya Chopra

Kavya is the first student to achieve full marks on the JEE main exam.

“I hit the 99.97 percentile in the February attempt, but my goal was a 100 percentile score, so I gave the JEE Main March attempt. I focused more on chemistry and did experiments within 15 days in March, ”she says.

The JEE Main Topper also qualified for the NSEA in Class 11 and the RMO in Class 9. After qualifying for INJSO in Class 10, Kavya joined the camp at the Jehangir Bhabha Center in Mumbai. She has also qualified IOQP, IOQC, and IOQM.

“I study 7-8 hours a day in self-study and give all three subjects the same amount of time,” she says.

“Nowhere in the country is there a kota-like environment, the best peer group, and the best competition. So I decided to come to Kota to prepare for JEE. Experienced faculties offer full support, ”says the JEE topper.

Father Vikas Chopra is a software engineer and mother Shikha Chopra is a teacher. The family lives in Delhi.

“My father is an engineer, so I was also interested in engineering. I love math and physics, so I chose JEE, ”she says.

“In the future, I would like to become a software engineer after doing BTech from IIT Mumbai CS Branch,” says Kavya.

“I study physics for two hours in the morning. Then I study chemistry for two to three hours during the day and math at night, ”says Guramrit about his preparation strategy.

“Since there was no coaching course during the lockdown, I saved myself the commute time and used it for my studies. The lockdown benefited me and the faculties at Allen Institute were always there to clear up any doubts. It was very beneficial to start online courses on time, ”says the JEE main topper.

Guramrit has also qualified NSCJS, NSCEA, NTSE Stage-2, KVPY and RMO.

“Alongside my studies, I play cricket or football for two hours a day. I am preparing for JEE Advanced. I talk to my parents to relax, ”says the JEE topper.

Father Priyadarshan Singh is a cloth merchant and Mother Priti is a housewife. The family originally resides in Chandigarh.

“After engineering, I want to work in large companies,” says Guramrit.
