Bengal CID summons BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari in his bodyguard’s murder case

BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari was summoned by the West Bengal Criminal Police in connection with the investigation into the mysterious death of his bodyguard Subhabrata Chakraborty. The West Bengal opposition leader (LoP) was asked to appear at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Criminal Police Headquarters in Bhawani Bhavan, Calcutta.

The case of Sub-Inspector Shubhabrata Chakraborty’s death was handed over to the CID in July of this year. He is said to have shot himself in 2018 in a police barracks in Kanthi in Purba Medinipur. A member of the state armed police force, Shubhabrata Chakraborty has been part of the security team at the BJP MLA since serving as a member of the Trinamool Congress.

As part of the investigation, a four-man was found The CID team searched Suvendhu Adhikari’s home in Purba Medinipur this July. The CID officers reportedly arrived at the Nandigram MLA home after interrogating and gathering information from former Shubhabrata Chakraborty employees.

His wife, Suparna Chakraborty, filed a new complaint with the Kanthi Police Station earlier this year, demanding an investigation into her husband’s death. West Bengal Police are investigating the matter.
