According to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta, more than a billion doses of the coronavirus vaccine had been administered in Bengaluru as of Sunday.
He announced on Twitter: “To date, BBMP has administered a total of 1.00.37.956 doses in B’luru. More than 1 Cr doses just means we will continue to vaccinate every eligible adult! We believe that Covid19 can be completely kept in check when we are all fully vaccinated. On the way to a stronger Bengaluru! (sic) ‘
The Commissioner congratulated all of the BBMP officials, health officials, staff and frontline fighters who have worked endlessly to provide a vaccine for everyone, adding that they will continue to work together and fight the Covid19 virus.

According to Co-WIN data, this includes 71.88.222 first doses and 29.0836 second doses under BBMP.
A total of 82.7 lakhs received the first dose, while more than 32 lakhs were fully vaccinated in the Bengaluru Municipality.

Karnataka reported 1,117 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, bringing the number to 29,55,164 cases in the state so far.
The government of Karnataka has also administered 4.5 million doses from the start of the vaccination campaign until Sunday evening. More than 3.3 million people were given the first dose of the Covid vaccine and 1.1 million people were given both doses.
Bengaluru now ranks second after New Delhi (1.41.02.635) when it comes to vaccinations in the country among the metropolises. Mumbai (1.02.67.836), Kolkata (60.11.947) and Chennai (52.24.615) take 3rd, 4th and 5th place respectively, according to a health bulletin by the Health Department of Karnataka.
