Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of the West Bengali BJP, said the party would not run candidates against Sushmita Dev of the Trinamool Congress in the Rajya Sabha poll.
In a tweet on Monday, Suvendu Adhikari said: “The BJP will not nominate a candidate for the Rajyasabha poll in West Bengal. The result is predetermined. Our focus is on ensuring that unelected CM are not reelected. Jai Ma Kali. “
As BJP decides not to nominate a candidate for the vacant seat of Rajya Sabha from West Bengal, TMC’s Sushmita Dev is expected to win unanimously.
Meanwhile, Sushmita Dev submitted her nomination for the Rajya Sabha poll on Monday.
The TMC last week named Sushmita Dev, who recently joined the party after leaving Congress, as its candidate to vote for the seat of Rajya Sabha, which became vacant after Manas Bhunia left the House of Representatives after serving the Sabang had won parliamentary elections in Paschim Medinipur.
There will be a by-poll to six seats of Rajya Sabha, including the one in Bengal, on October 4th.
Sushmita Dev, who was one of the national spokespersons for the congressional party and head of the women’s wing, joined the Trinamool congress, led by Mamata Banerjee, last month.
Her job is to take care of TMC’s operations in Assam and Tripura, which are scheduled for the parliamentary elections.
