The Union cabinet is expected to discuss the announcement of an aid package for the financially troubled telecommunications sector on Wednesday.
According to sources, the bailout package could include easing government levies, a year-long moratorium on the frequency rate due in April 2022, and fees from telecommunications companies.
The center held talks with the telecommunications companies. The government is also likely to issue letters of comfort to stressed telecommunications providers. This will help companies raise funds from global investors.
