The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is conducting searches in connection with irregularities in the ongoing Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) network at several locations in Delhi-NCR, Indore, Pune, Bangalore and Jamshedpur.
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is an engineering entrance exam conducted for admission to various engineering schools in India.
The Central Bureau of Investigation has brought proceedings against Affinity Education Private Limited, its directors – Siddharth Krishna, Vishwambhar Mani Tripathi and Govind Varshney, on allegations of irregularities in the ongoing JEE (Mains) Exams 2021 by the accused institution and its staff registered members.
According to the FIR, the defendants manipulated the JEE (net) online exam and made it easier for prospective students to enroll in top NITs (National Institute of Technology) on a large scale by remotely solving the applicant’s questionnaire from a selected exam center in Sonepat (Haryana).
“It was also alleged that the defendants used to obtain the X and XII stamp sheets, user IDs, passwords, and post-dated checks from prospective students in different parts of the country as security, and once approved, they raised heavy cash between Rs 12-15 lakh per candidate, ”said CBI spokesman RC Joshi.
“Searches are carried out at 19 locations, including Delhi & NCR, Pune, Jamshedpur, Indore and Bangalore, which led to the finding of 25 laptops, 7 PCs, around 30 pre-dated controls and extensive incriminating documents, including PDC devices, from various students’ notes “Added the CBI spokesman
The agency interviewed several people in connection with the case.
