In light of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the government on Friday extended the deadline for linking Aadhaar to the permanent account number (PAN) to March 31, 2022.

The Income Tax (IT) department announced that the final deadline for the Aadhaar PAN link, which was previously September 30, has been extended by 6 months due to the challenges facing taxpayers from the Covid-19 pandemic.

This is the fourth time the government has changed the deadline for linking Aadhaar and PAN this year. At the beginning of July, in the wake of the disruptions caused by the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, the government extended the last date to September 30.
