The clashes between the Taliban and local resistance forces led by Ahmad Massoud in Afghanistan’s Panshir Valley continued on the second day of Wednesday. This was reported by the Afghan news channel TOLO News.
TALIBAN’S ACCOUNT
The Taliban confirmed that the fighting had been going on for two days. They claimed that the resistance forces launched the attack and that both sides suffered losses in the clashes.
“Mujahideen of the Islamic emirate were attacked in Panjshir. The mujahideen reacted to the attack and the opposing side suffered heavy losses, ”said Anaamullah Samangani, member of the Taliban’s cultural commission.

On our side there were local forces from various districts, including Andarab and Panjshir, as well as the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces. They fought very well and defeated the Taliban on this front, ”said Fahim Dashty, a spokesman for the resistance front.
“The Taliban had to resign. They suffered 115 victims, 200 of their fighters were wounded and 55 arrested,” said Fahim Dashty.
The Taliban have denied attacking Panjshir, saying their troops were attacked by Massoud’s supporters and only responded to the attack.
LOCAL ACCOUNT
Residents of the Nasaji-Gulbahar area, just outside the Panjshir Valley, said the fighting between the two sides resumed Tuesday evening and is still ongoing.
“The fighting started at 10pm last night and is still going on,” said Baba Shirin, a local resident.
According to the locals, most of the residents have already fled the area.
FIGHT ON TUESDAY
Clashes broke out between the Taliban and the National Resistance Front in Afghanistan late Tuesday, local reports said. The clashes reportedly took place in parts of Panjshir province, Jabal Saraj district of Parwan province, Khawak Panjshir and Andarb districts of Baghlan province, local media sources said.
It is still unclear whether there were victims in the clashes. However, the resistance forces claimed the Taliban captured and detained 350 victims and more than 40 Taliban fighters.

the Taliban have reportedly shut down the internet and blocked the supply of the Panjshir Valley with essentials. While the valley has enough supplies for the winter and more Afghans are moving to Panjshir to seek shelter from the Taliban, resources could become scarce.
