The government of Haryana on Saturday ordered an investigation into the Lathi charges against farmers on August 28 and sent IAS official Ayush Sinha on vacation. As a result, the farmers canceled their protest in front of the headquarters of the Karnal district.

Farmers protesting outside Karnal district headquarters broke off their protest Saturday after the Haryana government ordered an investigation into the August 28 clash between farmers and police. The government also sent IAS official Ayush Sinha, who stands in the middle of a row between the two sides, on vacation.
At a joint press conference with farmers, Haryana’s additional chief secretary, Devender Singh, said the investigation would be conducted by a retired judge and would be completed within a month. IAS official Ayush Sinha will be on leave during the time, he added.
Devender Singh also announced that two family members would get jobs Sushil Kajal, the farmer who protesters claimed to have died after he was injured on August 28 on the Lathi indictment. The Haryana government had previously denied the farmer’s death.
After the announcement, peasant leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni said they would now be theirs Sit-in in front of the headquarters of the Karnal district.
“We asked for an FIR, but an forensic investigation is even better. Had they (the police) carried out the investigation, they could have manipulated it, said Chaduni.
What happened in Karnal on August 28th?
On August 28, Haryana police sued farmers who were protesting the state government on August 28 at the Karnal toll booth in Gharaunda. The demonstrators claimed that at least 10 farmers had been injured and one had died as a result of police action.
The now transferred IAS official Ayush Sinha was caught on tape allegedly telling police officers to “break heads” when the protesting peasants have crossed the border.
The government and farmers had several talks earlier this week, but they did came to no result. Farmers were also angry with the Haryana government’s decision to transfer, rather than suspend, IAS official Ayush Sinha.
