As they marched on foot from the Mahapanchayat meeting point to the mini-secretariat five kilometers away, the peasants came face to face with a water cannon near the complex. The protesting peasants jumped over some barricades, but no further serious altercations with police were reported along the way.

1. Farmers gather in Karnal for the Mahapanchayat: Large numbers of protesting farmers gathered for a mahapanchayat in Karnal. High-ranking Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) leaders, including Rakesh Tikait, Balbir Singh Rajewal, Darshan Pal, Yogendra Yadav and Gurnam Singh Chaduni, came to Mahapanchayat on August 28 and called for action against the police burden against the farmers. The farmers’ unions had warned that they would take over the mini-secretariat if the administration does not comply with their demands and revolves around a now transferred IAS official, Ayush Sinha.

Talks with the government of Haryana fail: Thousands of farmers decided to gherao the district headquarters in Karnal after talks with the state administration about police charges on farmers on August 28 were inconclusive. Congress calls for the resignation of Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar for “use of force” against farmers: Congress on Tuesday called for the resignation of Haryana’s chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on charges of using force against peasants protesting in Karnal and said if the Modi government can speak to the Taliban in Doha, why can it do the peasants do not invite to a dialogue. The chief spokesman for Congress, Randeep Surjewala, claimed that the Modi and Khattar governments are inciting the peasants and conspiring to play them off against the police.

Internet, SMS block in Karnal extended until 8 September at midnight: The suspension of mobile internet and SMS services in Karnal has been extended until September 8, given the excitement of the farmers. In an arrangement, the state government divided the mobile internet and SMS services have been discontinued to stop the spread of “misinformation and rumors across various social media platforms”.

5. State government doesn’t listen to farmers, says Tikait: Bhartiya Kisan Union chairman Rakesh Tikait said the state Government does not listen to the farmers. “The Khattar government should approve our demands or arrest us. We are ready to fill the prisons of Haryana, ”he tweeted.

Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) chairman Yogendra Yadav said the government had rejected calls for immediate action against him. However, officials told farm managers that an investigation would take place.
