Police have recorded a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in which the body of hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani was draped with a Pakistani flag and allegedly shared with “anti-national” slogans after his death on Wednesday Officials with.
Budgam Police Department registered the FIR against unnamed persons under various provisions of the Unlawful Activities Act (Prevention) and India’s Criminal Code, they said.
Police noted a video showing Geelani’s body floating on a Pakistani flag.
However, when the police advanced to take over the body, the late separatist leader’s aides removed the flag.
Geelani, 91, died Wednesday night in his residence here after a long illness.
The body was buried in a cemetery in a nearby mosque.
