Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted peace building in the Indo-Pacific region and around the world in his remarks at the Quad Leaders Summit on Friday.

Prime Minister Modi attended the first-ever face-to-face meeting of quad leaders hosted by US President Joe Biden, which was also attended by Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga.

In his opening address, Prime Minister Modi said, “Our four QUAD nations – India, Australia, Japan and the US – met for the first time after the 2004 tsunami to help the Indo-Pacific region. Today, when the world is fighting “against Covid-19, we have come here again for the good of humanity.”

“Based on our shared democratic values, Quad decided to move forward with positive thoughts and approaches. I would love to discuss supply chains or global security, climate change or Covid response or working together on technology with Quad members, ”he added.

Prime Minister Modi said he was confident that “our participation in Quad will create peace and prosperity in the world”.

PM Modi also spoke about the Quad members’ initiative to introduce Covid vaccines. “Our quad vaccine initiative will help the Indo-Pacific countries. Quad has chosen to take a positive approach based on our shared democratic values, ”said PM Modi.

“I would have loved to have a discussion with my friends – be it supply chain, global security, climate protection, Covid response or technology cooperation,” added PM Modi.
