A 25-year-old man identified as Jaysukh was kidnapped and allegedly killed on Monday in the Botad district of Gujarat by his wife’s relatives who did not consent to their marriage.

The victim was a resident of Limbali in the Gadhada Taluk. His body was found 15 kilometers from his village on Monday morning, the Times of India reported.

Police said they found multiple marks of injury on his body and that his head was smashed with a stone.

According to a friend of the deceased, Jaysukh was kidnapped by four people on Sunday while traveling from Itariya to Limbali.

“When I was about to drop Jaysukh into his village, his wife’s four relatives came in a car and attacked us. They beat us with sticks and pipes and forced Jaysukh into the car and fled,” the man’s friend said in his complaint.

He went on to tell police that the four defendants included the deceased’s wife’s brother, her cousins, and an unidentified person.

All four are residents of Nani Kundal in Babra taluka of Amreli and have been in hiding since the incident, police said.

Police said the 25-year-old man and his wife tied the knot almost four years ago and moved to Limbali village.

The woman’s family was not satisfied with her marriage to Jaysukh. So the young couple moved to Limbali.

“We are investigating why Jaysukh’s in-laws attacked him after four years,” the police said. One murder case was recorded against the four defendants.
