Defending champions Mumbai Indians will face the Chennai Super Kings led by MS Dhoni on Sunday as the “Indian El Clasico” marks the resumption of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Dubai.
The Chennai Super Kings are one of the most consistent teams in league history with three titles since 2008. However, CSK will miss the services of two major overseas stars: Faf du Plessis and Sam Curran.
Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, are the defending champions and the most successful team in IPL history. MI has a strong team full of T20 superstars like Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah.

It’s the greatest rivalry in IPL history, and it won’t be less when the two teams clash on Sunday. Rohit Sharma’s team is currently fourth in the IPL 2021 points table and will try to start the UAE stage with a win over runner-up Chennai.
The IPL 2021 was initially postponed indefinitely after just 29 games in May due to the second wave of Covid-19 in India.
CSK vs MI: Head-to-head record in 32 games
Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings are considered to be the greatest rivalry in Indian Premier League history as the two teams have played some of the biggest games in the IPL over the past 14 editions.
Although CSK is a consistent team under MS Dhoni, Mumbai holds the honorary body throughout the head-to-head battle. Notably, the teams competed in 32 IPL games, with MI winning 19 times and CSK winning number 13.

Despite a fierce rivalry, MI CSK have outclassed in the last six games and won five of them. On their last meeting, Kieron Pollard came with a special undefeated punch of 87 to help the Mumbai Indians register their highest IPL chase ever, ending the Chennai Super Kings five-game undefeated streak in the ongoing tournament. Pollard’s stellar appearance helped the Mumbai Indians chase a 219-run target in a high-scoring thriller for the final ball in Delhi.
