When Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden met for their first bilateral meeting on Friday, trade and talks on Indo-US relations dominated the agenda.
Prime Minister Modi praised President Biden’s leadership in developing friendship between India and the US and also in leading the fight against Covid-19 and climate change.
President Biden, on the other hand, mentioned that a strong India-US bond could solve “many global challenges”.

– At around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Modi arrived at the White House, where he was greeted by President Biden. Jaishankar, NSA Ajit Doval, Foreign Minister HV Shringla, India’s Ambassador to the United States TS Sandhu, Joint Secretary to Prime Minister RG Shresth and Private Secretary to Prime Minister Vivek Kumar.

– President Biden expressed his desire to strengthen India-US relations, saying: “India-US relations are destined to grow stronger. We should look at what else we can do to fight Covid-19, tackle climate change, and work for a safer Indo-Pacific. Preserving democratic values, shared commitment to diversity, respect for nonviolence and tolerance are more relevant today than ever. “
