In a briefing to conclude the “largest air evacuation of civilians in American history,” Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said on Wednesday he was “proud” of the welcome from the military Afghan refugees to the USA.
Lloyd Austin said the US evacuations were “heroic and historic”: “The US evacuated approximately 6,000 American citizens and a total of more than 124,000 civilians”.

“And we did all of this in the midst of a pandemic and in the face of serious and growing threats,” added Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin.

Austin took a minute during the briefing to catch up with the Soldiers who died in Afghanistan during the conflict and those who were wounded, “some still have the scars that cannot be seen from the outside,” he said.
“I hope all Americans will band together to thank our service members for their courage and compassion dangerous and dynamic environment. But our troops were tireless, fearless, and selfless. Our commanders never flinched. And our allies and partners have been exceptional, “said Austin.

“Some of these brave Afghans, after careful screening and security clearance by our interagency partners, will come to build new lives with their families in America. I’m proud of the way our military communities have welcomed them, ”Austin added.
Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden defended his Decision to end America’s longest war and withdraw all US troops before the August 31 deadline and said, “I did not want to extend this” eternal war “.
