Prior to her bilateral meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated Kamala Harris on her appointment as Vice President of the United States, saying her election was an “important and historic event”. PM Modi also invited the US Vice President to visit India soon.
PM Modi and Kamala Harris made a joint press statement ahead of their bilateral meeting on Friday (IST).
“Your election as Vice President of the United States was an important and historic event. You are a source of inspiration for many around the world. I am confident that our bilateral relations under Pres Biden and your leadership will reach new heights,” ANI news agency quoted as saying PM modes with the words.
“The people of India are waiting to welcome you. I invite you to visit India, ”added Prime Minister Modi.

Prime Minister Modi also thanked the U.S. government for helping India during the deadly second wave of coronavirus.
“I thank the US for helping India when India was hit by the second wave of Covid-19,” said Prime Minister Modi.

PM Modi said India and America are natural partners, sharing similar values and geopolitical interests. The Prime Minister noted that coordination and cooperation between the two countries is increasing.
“The vibrant and strong ties between India and the US, between India and the US, are a bridge between our two countries, and their contributions are commendable,” said Prime Minister Modi.
Kamala Harris said that India is a very important partner for the US and that cooperation between the two nations can have a profound impact on the world.

Kamala Harris noted that the United States is proud to support India during the second wave of coronavirus.
“We had Covid-19, the type of crisis and the importance of our shared belief in a free and open Indo-Pacific region. Our nations worked together on Covid-19, ”she said.
Kamala Harris also welcomed India’s decision to resume export of Covid-19 vaccines. “I welcome India’s announcement that it will soon resume vaccine exports. It is particularly noteworthy and admirable that India is currently vaccinating around 10 million people every day, ”she said.
