Quad leaders welcome India’s decision to resume export of Covid-19 vaccines

“Quad executives welcome the production of at least one billion safe and effective Covid-19 vaccines by Biological E LTD, including through our Quad investments, by the end of 2022,” the statement said.

“Today we are proud to announce a first step towards supplies that will immediately help the Indo-Pacific and the world end the pandemic,” the statement said.

“Our vaccine partnership remains on track to expand production at Biological E Ltd. this fall so that at least 1 billion doses of Covid-19 vaccines can be produced by the end of 2022,” the statement said.

“As a first step towards this new capacity, leaders will announce bold measures that will immediately assist the Indo-Pacific in its endeavor to end the pandemic,” she added.

In addition, the quad leaders said they are working to better prepare for the next pandemic.

“We will continue to build coordination of health security efforts in the Indo-Pacific and jointly hold at least one table or exercise in preparation for a pandemic in 2022,” they said.
