The polling states – Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Punjab and Uttarakhand – will have 100 percent vaccination coverage, government sources said Friday.
Sources also said India is expected to hit the 100 billion vaccination mark by the first week of October and that around 2.5 billion doses will likely be administered by the end of the day [Friday evening].
“The center is able to deliver as many vaccines as states need, in real time, without delay,” the source said.
India’s vaccination plan will also prioritize vaccination in the border areas of Kerala and Karnataka – given the situation regarding the high case load in these areas.
The government said $ 7.60 million would be available in the states as of Thursday evening.
By the end of this month, 1 billion doses of the Zydus Cadila Covid-19 vaccine will be ready for launch, the source said. Zydus Cadilas ZYCoV-D, the world’s first DNA vaccine against Covid-19, can be given to children between the ages of 12 and 18.
Whether or not to give ZYCoV-D vaccine to children will be decided by the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NTAGI), the source said.

Sources went on to say that Pfizer BioNtech vaccines have received approvals. However, sources say the deal will not go through as they have made different demands in every conversation the government has had with them. India delivers over 1.5 million Covid vaccines in a day
India administered 1.5 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine by 3:30 p.m. on Friday, which set a new record on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. This is the fourth time a billion doses have been given in a single day.
By Friday morning, India had given a total of over 77 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines.
On August 31, India administered over 1.30 crore doses, the highest one-day vaccination ever. India hit the one million dose milestone for the first time on August 27 this year.
