NCP leader and Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik has attacked NCB zone director Sameer Wankhede, who is investigating the drug downturn in Mumbai, where Aryan Khan and others have been in jail for about three weeks. Wankhede and his family have called Malik’s allegations a lie and a joke.
In an interview with Rajdeep Sardesai, editor of India Today TV Consulting, Nawab Malik said Aryan Khan was attacked, claiming NCB’s Sameer Wankhede will lose his job. Excerpts:
Q: They say you made it a personal match against Sameer Wankhede. How true is that
This is not a personal struggle. The NCB’s mandate is to combat interstate and international scuffle. Cases of a few grams of drugs are the responsibility of the local police. NCB hadn’t done this in 35 years. The game started with Rhea Chakraborty. The charge against her was false and the Supreme Court acquitted her. Then came a case of movie people using drugs. About 25 people were called. But there is no fee sheet or a final report. They use this open case to summon anyone whenever they want. Drug addicts should be sent to rehab. If someone has used drugs, test them and get them punished. But fear is created among people.
Q: Is there no connection between your son-in-law’s arrest and your allegations against Sameer Wankhede? Is there no campaign of revenge?
That is injustice. When he was arrested, I said no one was above the law and the judiciary would rule the case. He was bailed after more than eight months and I declared the charges were false. Nothing was found with him. But we monitored everything. We investigated and asked questions about the two people seen during the cruise raid, but received no responses.
Q: Why are you not going to court against Sameer Wankhede?
We raised questions with evidence. A case is recorded and the matter is investigated and the extortion is exposed. The NCB’s own panch raises allegations of extortion. This shows what we are saying is correct.

Q: Are you 100% sure Sameer Wankhede forged his caste certificate and revealed himself to be a Dalit to get the job with the IRS? His wife has denied it.
We are 100% safe. I’ll post his Nikahnama on Twitter tomorrow. All of the documents I cite are originals. If they are fake, have them show the original.
Q: Is there no Hindu Muslim policy?
This is a total fake. BJP initially said a Muslim was making allegations against a Maratha, a Brahmin officer. If a Dalit converts to Islam or Christianity, he cannot receive reservation benefits. There is a law. They were Muslim and used a fake certificate for the IRS job. We shall prove that he usurped the rights of a poor Dalit; he will lose this job. I promise this. How is that a personal attack? If there is injustice I will fight.
Q: If you turn out to be wrong, will you quit as a minister?
If a document I have submitted is found to be forged, I am ready to withdraw. Otherwise he has to cancel. My son-in-law was framed, Aryan Khan was framed.
