But we didn’t want to protest against the rebellious peasants [sitting at Singhu border] or Nihangs. We weren’t for Havan or Antim ardas [final prayer] organized by HMKS. “

He added: “We have told the organizers that we will not be attending the Havan. We didn’t want to create a security threat to the whole family in Punjab. We felt scared and pressured after the Lathi summons in Narela. “

HOW DID HMKS REACT?

On the other hand, the HMKS claimed that Lakhbir Singh’s family wanted to carry out the Antim ardas on the border with Singhu.

“Lakhbir Singh’s family contacted us and we got to know them in UP. The family said they wanted justice and compensation. They claimed their demands were not being heard in Punjab. So we did the Havan in Narela, ”said Chandra Mohan, national president of HMKS.

Meanwhile, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), a coalition of peasant groups protesting the centre’s farm laws, claims that the HMKS is affiliated with the BJP and Union Minister Sanjeev Balyan.
