Farmers will continue to be exploited till…: Varun Gandhi’s fresh salvo at govt

BJP MP Varun Gandhi said farmers in Mandis would continue to be exploited until there was no legal guarantee for MSPs from plants.

BJP MP Varun Gandhi said Farmers would continue to be exploited in Mandis until there is no legal guarantee of minimum support prices (MSPs) for plants.

“Until there is no legal guarantee for MSP, the farmers in Mandis will continue to be exploited. Strict measures should be taken here, ”tweeted Varun Gandhi.

Thousands of farmers, mainly from Punjab, Haryana and west of Uttar Pradesh, have been camping at several border points in Delhi since November 28, 2020, demanding the complete repeal of three farm laws and a legal guarantee of the minimum support price for their crops.

Last week, Varun Gandhi, who criticized the government’s handling of agricultural issues, shared a video clip allegedly showing a man setting fire to a pile of rice fields after his efforts to sell it failed.

“There is no greater punishment a farmer can inflict on himself than to set his own crops on fire. We all need to understand why the system has marginalized the nation through no fault of their own when we cannot protect those who feed us, “Varun Gandhi had said.

Recently, Varun Gandhi and his mother Maneka Gandhi were expelled from the BJP’s new national executive committee.

The development came hours later Varun Gandhi condemned the incident in Lakhimpur Kheri in which the convoy of the son of Union Minister Ajay Misra is said to have run over and killed four protesting farmers.

Varun Gandhi had demanded “accountability for the innocent blood of the farmers” when he published an alleged video of the incident.
