“Dhoni is an integral part of CSK, Chennai and Tamil Nadu. There is no CSK without a dhoni and there is no dhoni without a CSK, ”Srinivasan, who owns the franchise, told reporters during a brief interaction after visiting Lord Venkatachalapathy Temple in Chennai with the IPL trophy.

India Cements Limited owned the CSK franchise from its inception in 2008 through 2014 when it became owned by Chennai Super Kings Cricket Ltd.

The Dhoni-led CSK defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders last Friday in the final and took the IPL title for the fourth time. When asked to keep Dhoni and other CSK players at the next IPL auction, he said the retention policy has not yet been announced.
