NCB’s Sameer Wankhede writes to Mumbai Police chief, seeks protection from action on ‘false charges’

Sameer Wankhede, zone director of the NCB unit in Mumbai, has written a letter to the Mumbai Police Commissioner urging them to “ensure that no hasty legal action” is taken against him with “backgrounds” to slander him. He has sought protection with the Mumbai police.

That comes after one independent witness in the Mumbai drug case, Prabhakar Sail, claimed that Rs 25 crore had been charged on behalf of Sameer Wankhede to release Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan. Aryan Khan was arrested on October 3rd in the case.

In his letter on Sunday, Sameer Wankhede wrote: “I have noticed that unknown persons are planning some hasty legal action in relation to alleged vigilance issues in order to mistakenly hire me.”

He added that he had been “threatened with imprisonment and firing” in the “public media by well-respected public officials”.

Maharashtra’s minister, Nawab Malik, had previously announced that he would meet the prime minister and the state’s interior minister to request an investigation into the allegations against Sameer Wankhede. Nawab Malik has made several allegations against Sameer Wankhede, including extortion.

In his letter to the Mumbai Police Chief, Sameer Wankhede also said that the matter has already been referred to the NCB’s general manager.

The NCB has also published a statement on the matter. The statement read: “When he [Prabhakar Sail] is a witness in the case and the case is in court and lower court, he has to bring his prayer in court and not on social media when he has something to say … Our zone chairman Sameer Wankhede has categorically denied this allegation. “

WHAT DID THE WITNESS SAY?
