Anita Rawat, a hiker from Delhi who died along with six others on the way to Chitkul in Himachal Pradesh, had been advised against the trip. However, she insisted that it would be the last one that year.

“We advised her not to go, but she insisted and said it was the last hike of the year. She had just returned from a hike in Mori-Sankri, ”said her father Jyoti Singh, who fought back tears.

Singh also claimed that the hikers could have been saved if the rescue operations began immediately after the six porters from the trekking team arrived in Sangla, Himachal Pradesh.

The remains of the 38-year-old trekker were set on fire by their relatives on Sunday.

Anita helped her father in his confectionery and bakery business after quitting her job as a dentist at a private hospital in Delhi.

“She was very promising. From running my business accounts to driving a car, she could do anything. She was very passionate about trekking,” said Singh.
