Union Interior Minister Amit Shah, speaking on his three day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, met the family of the J&K police inspector who was shot dead by terrorists in June.
Parvaiz Ahmad Dar was shot at by two terrorists and later succumbed to his injuries in a local hospital. Dar was shot while praying in Menganwaji Nowgam, Srinagar.
The policeman leaves behind his wife, a 13-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son.
Amit Shah met the family members of Parvez Dar and reassured that the whole country is with them, adding that the nation will always remember the highest sacrifice made by Dar and other Jammu and Kashmiri police officers.
The Union’s Interior Minister also promised Parvez Dar’s wife a government job.
Amit Shah’s first visit to J&K since Article 370 repeal
This is Amit Shah’s first visit to Union Territory since Repeal of Article 370 in August 2019 which withdrew their special status from Jammu and Kashmir.
The Union Interior Minister landed in the valley on Saturday and was met by J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Srinagar Airport, while other senior officials from the Jammu and Kashmiri government were also in attendance.
Amit Shah is due to chair a high-level security clearance meeting later that day.
He’ll be the one too first international flight between Srinagar and Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates via video conference. The announcement of the launch of the Srinagar-Sharjah direct flight was made by Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia during his trip to Kashmir last month.
Massive security measures were set up in Jammu and Kashmir prior to Interior Minister Amit Shah’s visit. Drones, snipers and other CRPF and BSF companies were called to Srinagar.
CRPF bunkers have emerged in several neighborhoods as well as in other parts of the Kashmir Valley.
