2nd T20I: Rohit, Rahul help India gun down 154 after Harshal Patel heroics vs New Zealand to seal series

India won a clinical win over New Zealand by 7 wickets in their second T20 international match on Friday and, after outstanding performances by KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma and Harshal Patel in Ranchi, took an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the 3-match series.

KL Rahul brought up his 16th T20I for fifty balls out of 40 before dropping out to Tim Southee on the 14th for 65 balls out of 49. But Rahul and debutant Venkatesh Iyer gave the Blackcaps no chance and brought the team home with 16 balls.

Previously, India had gone to a tight bowling show by spin duo Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel to prevent New Zealand’s explosive start and to limit visitors to the second T20 International here on Friday to a modest 153 for six.

In a must-win match for the Kiwis, who are 0-1 behind in the three-match series, Martin Guptill (31 of 15 balls) and Daryl Mitchell (31 of 28 balls) brought the Indian pacemakers into the putt Cleaner in bat.
