Astronaut Wang Yaping, a crew member from China’s Shenzhou-13 mission, became the country’s first woman to march in space on Sunday evening.

According to a report in Chinese daily newspaper, Zhai opened the hatch at 6:51 p.m. (Beijing time) and at 8:28 p.m. Zhai and Wang left the Tiangong space station. By midnight, they installed new components on the space station’s robotic arm and used them to practice maneuvers from the vehicle and rescue operations.

Shenzhou-13, which means “Divine Ship” in Chinese, is the second space mission of Zhai and Wang and the first of Ye.

According to China Daily, Wang is the second Chinese woman to have flown into space. She joined the Air Force of the People’s Liberation Army in August 1997. She served as deputy squadron commander before joining the second group of astronauts in the PLA astronaut division in May 2010.

In March 2012, Wang was on the Shenzhou 9 mission’s backup crew. In June 2013, she participated in the Shenzhou-10 Mission, which lasted almost 15 days, according to the China Daily.
