Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chairman Amit Malviya shared a video of Navjot Singh Sidhu on Saturday showing the congressional leader hugging a Kartarpur official and giving Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan his “bada bhai” (older brother) calls.
While Amit Malviya tweeted the video, dug in at Congress, and said:, “Rahul Gandhi’s favorite navjot Singh Sidhu calls the Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan his” bada bhai “. The last time he praised Gen Bajwa, the chief of the Pakistani army, was showered with praise.”
“Is it any surprise that the Gandhi siblings chose a Pakistan-loving sidhu over veteran Amarinder Singh?” said Amil Malviya.

The video posted by Amit Malviya shows Navjot Singh, who was visiting Kartarpur Gurdwara on Saturday, meet a Kartarpur official.
The official can be heard greeting Navjot Singh Sidhu “on behalf of the Prime Minister”. He said: “… we have waited so long for this day.”
In response, Navjot Singh Sidhu said, “I am honored. He is my older brother … I don’t deserve this, but thank you very much.”
Navjot Singh Sidhu was then greeted with garlands and rose petals.
Amit Malviya also mentioned the time when Navjot Singh Sidhu had hugged the Pakistani Army General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
In 2018, Navjot Singh Sidhu was embroiled in controversy when he hugged General Bajwa during his visit to Pakistan for Imran Khan’s oath ceremony. Subsequently, he was criticized by the former Prime Minister of Punjab, Amarinder Singh, for his “hug”.
Navjot Sidhu versus Amarinder Singh
The Congress-led government of Punjab experienced political upheaval and a change of guard after Amarinder Singh stepped down as Prime Minister of Punjab in September this year. He later resigned from Congress, saying he would form his own party before the next general election.
Navjot Singh Sidhu, who was elected President of the Punjab Congress, soon resigned from his post amid rifts with the party. He later withdrew his resignation. He and Amarinder Singh have always been at odds on various issues, which eventually led to changes in the party’s governance.
