Narcotics Control Bureau Zone Director (NCB) attorneys, Sameer Wankhede, submitted additional documents to the Bombay High Court Thursday in connection with Wankhede’s father’s defamation lawsuit against NCP leader Nawab Malik.
Nawab Malik, a cabinet-level minister in the Maharashtra government, has alleged that Wankhede presented fake caste certificates to prove he belongs to the Hindu caste category in order to get a job under quota after passing the UPSC exam.
On Thursday, Malik got through his lawyers Atul Damle and Kunal Damle put the judge Madhav Jamdar. three documents. This includes a letter from the Public Health Officer of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) with a copy of Sameer Wankhede’s father’s name change statement; Sameer Wankhede graduation certificate issued by St. Joseph’s High School and St. Paul High School; and entry form for St. Joseph’s High School.

Attorneys Arshad Shaikh and Diwakar Rai, who represent Sameer Wankhede, also presented the court with two documents – a digitized birth certificate from the BMC and a caste certificate from Wankhede’s father, Dnyandev Wankhede.
Shaikh argued that the documents Malik relied on were removed from the BMC after Malik tweeted. So what Malik should have done before tweeting, he does after tweeting, Shaikh said.
Shaikh said that Malik is writing a letter to the BMC and “surprisingly the BMC will write to him in his official capacity in two days and address him as minister”.
The letter from the BMC’s E-Station health officer included Wankhede’s full birth dates to show that Dnyandev’s name was Dawood K Wankhede in 1979 and that it wasn’t until 1993 that the sub-registrar corrected his name to Dnyandev.
In addition, Sameer Wankhede’s name was also registered as a Muslim.
Malik’s additional affidavit stressed that “certified copies of documents from Sameer Wankhede’s school mentioning his religion as Muslim and his father’s name as Dawood Wankhede.”

The affidavit goes on to say that upon review of the BMC letter and documents, “it is clear that Wankhede’s name has been changed from Dawood K Wankhede to Dnyandev Kachruji Wankhede as shown as Muslim.”
On the other hand, attorney Shaikh emphasized before Judge Jamdar that the documents show that Wankhede senior recognized the error in Wankhede junior’s testimony and therefore changed it.
“He (Malik) should stop calling me Dawood, which was corrected to Dyandev a long time ago. Somehow he was silent for the last four days. Then he started again,” said Shaikh.
“You have to see if his birth certificate is correct or mine,” he added.
Shaikh also raised the issue of the police being given a copy of the certificate from the school and wondered how it got to Malik.
Speaking of the various documents in which the name change was made, Shaikh said sarcastically, “In the 5th Standard, Sameer knew that he was going to become an IRS officer and that he would need the Mahar certificate.”
After finishing the arguments in Justice Jamdar’s chamber within 10 minutes, Shaikh repeated, “Call me other than Dawood.”
The bank took all the documents on record, and Judge Jamadar said he would deliver the verdict on November 22nd at 5:30 p.m. He added that no more documents will be included.
