India reports 8,865 new Covid-19 cases, lowest in 287 days


India saw a sharp drop in Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, with 8,865 new cases in the past 24 hours, the lowest in 287 days.

The new cases reported today are 13.3% fewer than yesterday. The new census brings the total number of cases in India to 344,56,401.

The five states with the highest recorded cases are Kerala with 4,547 cases, followed by Tamil Nadu with 802 cases, West Bengal with 782 cases, Maharashtra with 686 cases and Mizoram with 611 cases.

These five states reported 83.79% of the new cases, with Kerala alone responsible for 51.29% of the new cases.

197 COVID DEATH IN 24 HOURS

Up to 197 people died from the virus in the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 4,663,852.

Most of the casualties were reported in Kerala, where 127 people lost their lives, followed by Maharashtra with 19 deaths every day.

A total of 11,971 patients recovered in the past 24 hours, bringing the total recovery to 3,38,61,756 across the country. This brings India’s recovery rate to 98.27%.

Active Covid-19 cases decreased by 3,303 in the past 24 hours and India’s active case count is 130,793.

A total of 59.75.469 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine were administered in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of doses administered to 1.12.97.84.045.

A total of 7/11,617 samples were tested in the past 24 hours.
