Opening batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad, all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer and sailors Harshal Patel and Avesh Khan were added to the 16-man squad for the upcoming T20I series with three games against New Zealand from November 17th.

All have been recognized for their impressive accomplishments for their respective franchises in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL).

Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad was a revelation for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2021 IPL. The Maharashtra right-handed batter has 635 runs in 16 games with an impressive 132.12 hit rate, including a century and four fifties in CSK’s title triumph . He also won the Orange Cap.

Ruturaj played two T20I matches for India on the Sri Lanka Tour earlier this year.

Harshal Patel

Harshal Patel, who appeared as Virat Kohli at the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL, has hit Dwayne Bravo’s record of 32 wickets in 2013. Patel bagged the Purple Cap for the 2021 IPL season.

Harshal is not an express pace, but he does exactly what Dwayne Bravo has done over the years for the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He bowls the difficult over (18th and 20th), mixes his slower balls, hits the hard length with his stick delivery and reaps the rewards.
