A 14-year-old grade 9 student hanged himself from a tree after being upset about missing his school bus.
A grade 9 student in the Betul district of Madhya Pradesh hanged himself from a tree on Monday after apparently upset about missing his school bus.
Police said the incident took place on Monday in Aamdoh village, 25 miles from Betul district headquarters.
“The 14-year-old boy, a 9th grade student, killed himself by hanging on Monday,” said Ravi Shakya, the Ghodadongri police station responsible. He said the boy left home to go to school but missed the bus.

“His family said he went to school on time. He was upset when he missed the bus,” the officer said.
A relative of the boy said he returned home crying after missing the bus. After a while he was found hanging from a tree in the back yard of his house. The boy’s uncle said he was very good at his studies. “He was found hanging from a mango tree in the back yard, still in his school uniform,” he said.
“Sometimes, under pressure from their parents, young people take such extreme steps to excel in their studies. In addition, too much contact with social media can also trigger such tendencies, ”a child specialist told PTI.
