The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has sent six cases, including the drug case against Aryan Khan, the son of Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, from the Mumbai Zone, led by Sameer Wankhede, to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by IPS- Transferred to Officer Sanjay Kumar Singh. The development came just days after the NCB vigilance team launched an investigation into Mumbai Zone Director Sameer Wankhede and others over allegations of corruption and procedural errors in the Aryan Khan case.

The cruise drug case in which Aryan Khan was arrested on October 3 by a team led by Sameer Wankhede is now being investigated by Sanjay Kumar Singh, a senior deputy director general who heads SIT.
WHO IS SANJAY KUMAR SINGH?
Sanjay Kumar Singh is a 1996 cadre officer for the Odisha IPS (Indian Police Service). He has served in various roles with the Odisha Police and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Prior to joining the NCB, Singh was an additional director general (ADG) in charge of the Drug Task Force (DTF) of the Odisha Police Department. During his tenure with the DTF, Singh launched a series of anti-drug campaigns in the state and launched several drug trafficking brawls in Bhubaneswar.
In 2008, Singh worked at the CBI as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) until 2015. While at the CBI, he handled several high profile cases.

Sanjay Kumar Singh has also served as Inspector General of Police (IGP), Odisha Police Personnel and as an additional Twin City Police Commissioner, Odisha Police.
In January 2021, Sanjay Kumar Singh was seconded to the Central Authority as a deputy and joined the Narcotics Control Office as Deputy Director General (DDG).
“No disciplinary or criminal proceedings are pending against him [Sanjay Kumar Singh]. And he is devoid of vigilance, as no such case is registered against him by the Anti-Corruption Directorate, ”the MHA letter issued in September 2020 reads.
