A resident of Tamil Nadu’s Salem district died of suicide on Saturday after failing NEET for the second time.

A candidate for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) died of suicide on Saturday in Tamil Nadu’s Salem district after failing the test for the second time.
The deceased, identified as Subash Chandra Bose, was the son of a day laborer from the village of Vadakumarai near Salem County.
According to people familiar with the incident, the boy used pesticides in his apartment after learning that he could not clear the NEET on the second attempt.

Family members found the boy unconscious and took him to a local hospital in Salem, where he did not respond to treatment and eventually succumbed.
Salem police have been informed of the incident. The boy’s body was taken to the Salem Government Hospital for autopsy.
The deceased reportedly appeared for NEET in September this year.
Last month, a 20-year-old boy from Pollachi, Tamil Nadu, died of suicide for fear of failing NEET. Keerthivasan died on the way to the Coimbatore Government Hospital.
The Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu passed a bill in September this year that waived the NEET for medical aspirants. Under the bill, aspirants can apply for admission to medical courses in the state based on grades they achieved in grade 12.
