A nightly curfew will be imposed in the winter capital of Jammu starting Wednesday as the Covid-19 positivity rate in the region rises, a senior district official said here.

A violation of the restrictions will lead to strict measures, District Judge Anshul Garg warned on Tuesday.

“Given the rising positivity rate in Jammu, DDMA is imposing a nightly curfew from November 17th (Wednesday) from 10pm to 6am,” Garg said in a tweet.

He advised people who live in the city to follow the Covid-19 SOP and get fully vaccinated.

All officers and tehsildars of the station house must ensure that announcements are made on loudspeaker systems to make people aware of the new development, according to an order issued by the district judge.

The DM said the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) had done a detailed review of the city’s Covid situation and decided that immediate action was needed as the positivity rate had increased 0.2 percent lately.
