QS Quacquarelli Symonds, a global think tank for higher education and the creator of the world’s most widely consulted university ranking portfolio, recently published the QS Asia University Rankings 2022 for the best higher education institutions on the continent. The National University of Singapore has been named Asia’s Best University for the fourth year in a row.
The top 10 list does not include an Indian university. This year 117 Indian universities were included in the QS Asia University Rankings 2022 Indian welcomed 10 new freshmen. 7 of them made it into the top 100.
The three best Indian universities in the Asia ranking are IIT Bombay (42nd place), IIT Delhi (45th place) and IIT Madras (54th place).
The top central universities represented in the rankings are Delhi University in 77th place and JNU in 107th place. Among the state universities, Calcutta University ranks highest at 154th.
The top 10 universities in the QS Asia University Rankings 2022 remain unchanged from the previous year, although some of their ranks have changed. Two are from Singapore, one from Malaysia and the rest from Hong Kong and China.
The QS World University Rankings 2022 for universities worldwide were published in early June and no Indian institute had secured a place in the top 100 universities in the world.
Three Indian institutes made it into the top 200 list – Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) (rank 117), Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) (rank 185) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) (rank 186 .). ).

QS Asia University Rankings 2022: Top countries with the most universities
According to QS, the 687 top universities in Asia come from 18 locations, and mainland China is the most strongly represented with 126 universities rated.
In addition, Japan has more universities in the top 50 of the rankings (11 universities) than any other nation, place or territory. It follows mainland China with 10 universities in the top 50.

QS Asia University Rankings 2022: Top 10 from India
India does not do so well in the QS Asia University Rankings 2022. It lost quality of research due to out-of-quantity research. The teaching and employability of Indian universities is also a reason for the low rankings.
Still, according to research productivity, six top 10 universities in Asia come from India.
