Singapore to resume commercial flights from India from Nov 29 | All you need to know


Travelers from India will soon be able to visit Singapore as the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has reached an agreement with the Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation to resume commercial scheduled flights for passengers. This will facilitate quarantine-free travel on Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) from India to Singapore, which will begin on November 29 with six designated VTL flights daily from Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai.

According to a statement from the CAAS, the airlines can also operate non-VTL flights between India and Singapore. Travelers on non-VTL flights to Singapore are subject to applicable public health regulations based on the Singapore Department of Health (MOH) country / region classification for border measures.

VACCINATED PASSPORT: APPLICATION PROCEDURE

According to CAAS, short-term visitors and holders of a long-term passport must apply for a vaccinated passport (VTP) to enter Singapore as part of the VTL from November 22nd. Fully vaccinated Singaporean citizens and permanent residents, as well as children ages 12 and below, do not need to apply for a VHP to enter Singapore under the VTL.

VTP applications for short term visitors and long term pass holders from India, Finland and Sweden will open on November 22nd at 6:00 p.m. Singapore time. All short-term visitors and season ticket holders who meet the requirements of the VTL receive a VTP.

The VHP applications will be open for scheduled entry dates from November 29, 2021 to January 21, 2022. “Those wishing to enter Singapore after December 1 are strongly advised to apply after November 24,” the note reads.

STANDARDS DEFINED FOR VACCINATED PASSPORT

The CAAS has made it clear that VHP applicants should have information on their passport, digital proof of vaccination and a Singapore address in order to self-isolate pending their COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test results on arrival when they complete the application process.

Short-term visitors who need a visa to travel to Singapore will need to obtain a visa separately. “They are advised to do this after receiving their VTP permit and before leaving for Singapore. You must also purchase travel insurance with a minimum coverage of S $ 30,000 for medical treatment and hospitalization related to COVID-19 before traveling to Singapore. In Singapore, these visitors will also need to use the TraceTogether app for easier contact tracking, ”the note reads.

VACCINATED PASSPORT: VACCINATION REQUIRED

The fully vaccinated travelers from VTL countries can enter Singapore without quarantine and only have to undergo a COVID-19 test. Children under the age of 12 who are not vaccinated may travel to Singapore on the VTL if they are accompanied by a VTL traveler who meets all VTL requirements.

The other condition includes that the VTL travelers only stayed in one or more VTL countries or a country / region of category I of the country / region classification of Singapore MOH for border measures in the last 14 consecutive days prior to departure for Singapore may have. If the traveler has been in Singapore in the last 14 days, their stay in Singapore can count towards the fulfillment of this 14-day travel history.

VACCINATED PASSPORT: VERIFICATION REQUIRED

All VTL travelers have to take two Covid-19 tests. A pre-departure test, which is a PCR test or a professionally performed rapid antigen test (ART) within two days of departure for Singapore and which must receive a negative test result. A PCR test upon arrival at Changi Airport and stay in isolation until the test result is confirmed negative. Children who are 2 years of age and younger in the calendar year do not have to undergo these tests.

All VTL travelers must be fully vaccinated and present digital proof of vaccination recognized by Singapore authorities, issued in a VTL country or Singapore. According to the VTL, children who are 12 years of age and younger in the calendar year do not need to present a vaccination certificate to enter Singapore if they are accompanied by a VTL traveler who meets all VTL requirements for entry to Singapore.

There are no travel purpose restrictions under the VTL Agreement and no requirement for a controlled itinerary or sponsor.

The resumption of commercial flights is a next step after the World Health Organization (WHO) approved the emergency use of Covaxin, the India-made vaccine against Covid-19.
