The government of Uttarakhand abolished the board of directors of Chardham Devasthanam. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the decision was made after considering all aspects.
“After examining all aspects of the issue, we have decided to withdraw the Chardham Devasthanam Board Act,” said Uttarakhand Prime Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
The Uttarakhand government scrapped the Chardham Devasthanam board on Tuesday. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “After examining all aspects, we have decided to withdraw the Chardham Devasthanam Board Act.”
Chardham priests have been calling for the board to be abolished since its inception in 2019 as it was a violation of their traditional rights to the temples.
A high-level committee set up by Dhami to investigate the matter of the Devasthanam board had presented its recommendations to the prime minister in Rishikesh on Sunday.
“We went through the details of the report submitted by the panel chaired by Manohar Kant Dhyani. After examining all aspects of the issue, our government decided to withdraw the law,” said Dhami.
The Chardham Devasthanam Board was formed during the tenure of former Prime Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and administered the affairs of 51 temples across the state, including the famous Himalayan temples of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri.
